Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Start by washing the russet potatoes thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. If you prefer, you can peel them, but leaving the skin on adds texture and flavor.
- Slice the potatoes into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick for even cooking. Use a sharp knife or a mandoline for this step.
- Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch for crispier fries.
- After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove moisture.
- In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the dried fries and drizzle with olive oil. Toss to coat evenly, then sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the fries and toss again.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Place a single layer of fries in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded for even cooking.
- Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through (around 8-10 minutes) for even cooking. For extra crispiness, add an additional 2-5 minutes.
- After cooking, check the fries for doneness. They should be golden brown and crispy. Continue cooking in 2-minute increments if needed.
- Carefully remove the fries from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving platter. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
- If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the hot fries for added flavor.
- Enjoy the fries fresh out of the air fryer with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, aioli, or ranch dressing.
- Grab a handful of those crispy, garlicky fries and savor every bite!
Notes
- Experiment with Seasonings: Customize the seasoning to your taste; add cayenne pepper for heat or Italian herbs for a different flavor.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
