Description

This Crispy Chilli Beef is a tantalizing dish featuring tender beef strips coated in a crispy batter and tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or an impressive gathering, it’s sure to delight your taste buds!

Ingredients

  • Flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • Soy sauce
  • Cornstarch
  • Vegetable oil
  • Sweet chilli sauce
  • Sriracha
  • Bell peppers, sliced
  • Onions, sliced
  • Garlic, freshly minced
  • Ginger, freshly minced
  • Spring onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Slice your beef thinly against the grain and place it in a bowl.
  2. Add a tablespoon of soy sauce and a teaspoon of cornstarch to the beef and mix well. Let it marinate for about 15-30 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle additional cornstarch over the marinated beef slices and toss until each piece is well coated.
  4. In a large pan or wok, heat a generous amount of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Carefully add the beef slices in batches to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. In the same pan, add more oil if needed and toss in minced garlic, ginger, and sliced bell peppers and onions. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
  7. Pour in the sweet chilli sauce and sriracha, stirring well to combine with the vegetables. Let it simmer for a minute to thicken slightly.
  8. Add the crispy beef back into the pan and gently toss everything together to ensure the beef is well coated with the sauce.
  9. Sprinkle chopped spring onions over the top for garnish and serve immediately.
