Garlic Butter Steak Cheddar Potato Bake: A Savory Delight

  • Author: Ava
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

This Garlic Butter Steak Cheddar Potato Bake combines tender steak, creamy cheddar cheese, and perfectly baked potatoes, all drenched in rich garlic butter. It’s an easy and delicious comfort food that will impress your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • Ribeye or sirloin steak (or flank steak for a leaner option)
  • Russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold for a creamier taste)
  • Sharp cheddar cheese (or medium cheddar or Monterey Jack as substitutes)
  • Fresh garlic (or garlic powder as a substitute)
  • Unsalted butter (or vegan butter substitute)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Thyme or rosemary (optional herbs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Wash and peel the Russet potatoes, then slice them into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Season your steak generously with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add a tablespoon of butter, and sear the steak for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Remove from heat and let it rest.
  4. In the same skillet, lower the heat and add an additional tablespoon of butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potato slices at the bottom. Drizzle half of the garlic butter over them, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Slice the rested steak thinly and layer it on top of the potatoes. Add half of the cheddar cheese over the steak, then layer the remaining potatoes and repeat the process with the remaining garlic butter and cheese.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle fresh herbs like parsley or chives before serving.
