Description

This Gochujang Shrimp is the sweet & spicy Korean shrimp recipe of your dreams! Quick, flavor-packed, and perfect with rice or salad. The gochujang sauce is sticky, bold, and downright addictive—ready in just 20 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale

For the shrimp:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or neutral oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp gochujang

  • 1 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)

  • 12 tsp water (to thin sauce, if needed)

To garnish:

  • Sesame seeds

  • Sliced green onions

  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Thin with water if needed.

  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and lightly seared.

  4. Reduce heat to medium and pour in the sauce. Toss to coat and simmer for 1–2 minutes until thick and glossy.

  5. Remove from heat. Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, and a squeeze of lime. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add a handful of veggies like snap peas or shredded carrots for a one-pan meal.

  • Adjust spice by using more or less gochujang.

  • Want to grill instead? Skewer the shrimp and brush with the sauce in the last minute of grilling!

  • Sauce can be prepped ahead and stored for 2–3 days in the fridge.
