Ingredients
For the shrimp:
-
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
-
1 tbsp olive oil or neutral oil
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the sauce:
-
2 tbsp gochujang
-
1 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)
-
1 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar
-
1 tsp sesame oil
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
-
1–2 tsp water (to thin sauce, if needed)
To garnish:
-
Sesame seeds
-
Sliced green onions
-
Lime wedges
Instructions
-
Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Thin with water if needed.
-
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and lightly seared.
-
Reduce heat to medium and pour in the sauce. Toss to coat and simmer for 1–2 minutes until thick and glossy.
-
Remove from heat. Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, and a squeeze of lime. Serve immediately.
Notes
-
Add a handful of veggies like snap peas or shredded carrots for a one-pan meal.
-
Adjust spice by using more or less gochujang.
-
Want to grill instead? Skewer the shrimp and brush with the sauce in the last minute of grilling!
-
Sauce can be prepped ahead and stored for 2–3 days in the fridge.
