Non-Alcoholic Knödel in the Air Fryer: Delicious & Easy!

  • Author: Ava
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

Discover the delightful flavors of Knödel, or dumplings, made effortlessly in your air fryer. This non-alcoholic recipe combines comfort food with a healthier cooking method, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Starchy potatoes (Russet or Idaho)
  • Ground beef (lean cut)
  • Bread crumbs (day-old or panko)
  • Whole milk (or almond milk/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • Eggs (or flaxseed meal mixed with water for vegan option)
  • Fresh parsley
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Onion powder (optional)
  • Vegetable oil (olive oil or avocado oil)

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling and cutting the potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and let them cool slightly. Mash them in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add in the ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, eggs, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined. The mixture should be thick but moldable.
  3. With your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Make sure they are compact to prevent them from falling apart during cooking.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This helps the Knödel to cook evenly.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place the Knödel in the basket, ensuring there’s space between them for air circulation. Spray the tops lightly with oil to promote browning.
  6. Cook them for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  7. Once cooked, remove the Knödel from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute. They can be served with a side of gravy, sautéed mushrooms, or simply with a sprinkle of fresh herbs.
