Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of cake mix (any flavor you prefer)
- 1 cup of water or milk (depending on the cake mix instructions)
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup of frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional: 1 cup of chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit (like blueberries or chopped apples)
- Cooking spray or butter (for greasing the slow cooker)
Instructions
- Gather Your Ingredients: Start by gathering all your ingredients on the counter for a smoother process.
- Prepare the Slow Cooker: Grease the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or butter using a paper towel.
- Mix the Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, water (or milk), vegetable oil, and eggs. Whisk until smooth and free of lumps. Optionally, add chocolate chips or nuts.
- Check the Consistency: Ensure the batter is pourable but not too runny. Adjust with more water or milk if necessary.
- Pour the Batter into the Slow Cooker: Carefully pour the batter into the greased slow cooker, using a spatula to scrape the bowl.
- Set the Slow Cooker: Cover and set the slow cooker to low heat (2-3 hours) or high heat (1-1.5 hours).
- Check for Doneness: After 1.5 hours on high or 2 hours on low, check the cake with a toothpick. If it comes out clean or with a few crumbs, it’s done.
- Cool the Cake: Turn off the slow cooker and let the cake cool for 10-15 minutes with the lid on.
- Remove the Cake: Carefully lift the cake out using a large spatula, running a knife around the edges if needed.
- Frost the Cake: Let the cake cool completely on a wire rack, then spread your favorite frosting over the top.
- Add Toppings: Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips, nuts, or fresh fruit on top of the frosting.
- Slice and Serve: Slice the cake into pieces and serve, optionally pairing with ice cream or whipped cream.
