  • Author: Ava
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 glasses 1x

Description

A refreshing Strawberry Dirty Sprite combines fresh strawberries, zesty lime, and fizzy soda, with an optional splash of vodka for an adult twist. Perfect for summer gatherings or a relaxing day at home, this delightful drink is easy to make and sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup Sprite or any lemon-lime soda
  • 1/2 cup vodka (optional, for an adult version)
  • 1/4 cup sweet and sour mix
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Additional strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the strawberries under cold water to remove any dirt or impurities.
  2. Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops using a small knife or a strawberry huller.
  3. Slice the hulled strawberries into thin pieces to help release their juices and flavor.
  4. Set the sliced strawberries aside in a bowl. Optionally, sprinkle a little sugar over them and let them sit for about 10 minutes to create a lovely strawberry syrup.
  5. In a large pitcher, combine the sliced strawberries and the sweet and sour mix. If using the sugar method, add the syrup that formed as well.
  6. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently mash the strawberries and sweet and sour mix together to release the juices, leaving some chunks for texture.
  7. Pour in the vodka if making the adult version; skip this step for a non-alcoholic drink.
  8. Add the fresh lime juice to the mixture for a zesty kick.
  9. Pour in the Sprite or lemon-lime soda and stir gently to combine without losing too much carbonation.
  10. To chill the drink, cover the pitcher with plastic wrap or a lid and place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  11. If in a hurry, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the drink over the ice immediately.
  12. Choose your favorite glasses (mason jars work great for a rustic feel).
  13. If chilled, give the drink a gentle stir before serving.
  14. Fill each glass with ice cubes, leaving some space at the top.
  15. Pour the Strawberry Dirty Sprite mixture over the ice, filling the glass to the brim.
  16. Garnish each drink with fresh mint leaves and a slice of strawberry on the rim.
  17. Admire your creation; the vibrant red of the strawberries against the fizzy soda is stunning!
  18. Grab a straw or a spoon and give it a little stir to mix the flavors as you sip.
  19. Enjoy the refreshing taste of strawberries, the fizz of the soda, and the hint of lime. If vodka is added, enjoy the nice kick that complements the drink.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the vodka.
  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to the strawberries.
  • This drink is best served fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for a few hours if needed.
