Ingredients
Scale
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1 tablespoon milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the cookies bake evenly and rise properly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter and 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix well until fully combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.
- Using a tablespoon, drop rounded mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- While the cookies are baking, prepare the icing by whisking together 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of milk until smooth.
- Once the cookies are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, drizzle the icing over the cookies with a spoon or piping bag.

Keywords: For the best results, use high-quality ingredients. If the dough is too sticky, chill it for 30 minutes before shaping. You can substitute margarine for butter, but the flavor may differ.
