Indulge in the rich flavors of Garlic Butter Steak Gnocchi Skillet with Parmesan Cream, a comforting dish perfect for any occasion. This one-pan meal combines tender steak, pillowy gnocchi, and a creamy Parmesan sauce that will leave you craving more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 lb (450g) potato gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240ml) chicken broth
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup (150g) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup (30g) fresh spinach
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Begin by seasoning the sirloin steak pieces with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Make sure to coat each piece evenly for maximum flavor. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the spices.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the seasoned steak to the pan in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned but still slightly pink in the center. Avoid overcrowding the pan, as this will steam the meat instead of searing it.
  3. Once the steak is browned, transfer it to a plate and set it aside. In the same skillet, add 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter and let it melt. Then, add 4 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant—be careful not to let it burn as it can turn bitter.
  4. Next, pour in 1 cup of chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer. Scrape the bottom of the skillet with a wooden spoon to release any flavorful bits stuck to the pan. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes to reduce slightly.
  5. Add 1 cup of heavy cream and stir well to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for another 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly. You'll know it's ready when it coats the back of a spoon.
  6. Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and incorporated into the sauce. The sauce should be creamy and smooth. If it’s too thick, feel free to add a splash more chicken broth to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Add the cooked gnocchi directly into the skillet, along with the cherry tomatoes and fresh spinach. Gently toss everything together, allowing the gnocchi to soak up the sauce and the spinach to wilt—about 2-3 minutes. Make sure the dish is heated through.
  8. Finally, return the steak to the skillet and give everything a gentle mix to combine. Cook for an additional minute to warm the steak back up before serving. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

Keywords: To avoid overcooking your steak, consider using a meat thermometer. Aim for medium-rare at 130°F (54°C) for the juiciest results. Always have a bit of extra chicken broth on hand to adjust the sauce consistency as needed.
